Mission Statement
Rockland County Sheriff's Police Division is dedicated
to the protection of life and property, reduction of
crime through patrol and enforcement, and the provision of
a safer environment in which our citizens can live,
work, and pursue a better quality of life.
Law Enforcement Protection and Services
The Rockland County Sheriff's Police Division is a
police agency at the County level with the specific
function of provision of Law Enforcement Protection
and Services to all the people of Rockland County.
Primary focuses of the Division's efforts are upon
County properties, thoroughfares, complexes, interests
and holdings. This being accomplished under the
direction of the Sheriff utilizing aggressive modern
Police Patrol techniques to accomplish mission and
assignments.

Bureau of
Criminal Investigation
Bureau of Criminal Investigation conducts
investigations into criminal activities specifically related
to the municipality and the community in general.
Officers are responsible
for execution of Warrants of Arrests issued by the criminal
courts as well as providing extradition's as directed, from
all national jurisdictions. Specialized and technical
Forensic crime scene processing teams provide expertise and
service to aid County and local police investigative
efforts. Trained investigators interact with the County's
fire services to support prosecutions for Arson.
The Bureau is the central
depository for criminal records and documents and as such
provides analytical crime statistical reports.
Detective
Unit
The Detective Unit has responsibility for the
plain-clothes enforcement functions of the Patrol mission.
Conducting criminal investigations on County matters, this
Unit is also responsible for Warrant execution and
extradition’s from outside jurisdictions.
In addition, the Detective
Unit conducts investigations into internal affairs of the
department and works with local and state police on matters
of mutual interest and concern.

Patrol Unit

The Sheriff's
navigational enforcement unit services the County
primarily on the Hudson River water boundary.
The unit provides enforcement, safety, ecological and
rescue related services. Interacting with all
emergency services and environmental agencies to
enhance the environment and quality of the valuable
resource. |
Mounted
Patrol Unit
The Sheriff's Mounted Police unit is a comprised of six full
time police officers and horses assigned to the police
division.
Operating independently,
as well as in conjunction with local police jurisdictions,
the units resources are utilized to conduct enforcement and
support missions as requested and assigned.
Established to
provide specialized and general mounted police services to
all the people of Rockland County, N.Y.
The mounted participates
in community policing functions of the division in addition
to crowd control, traffic direction, and search and rescue.
Bomb Disposal Unit
The Police Division maintains a Bomb
Disposal Unit (Hazardous devices). The team is fully trained
and equipped to respond to all types of hazardous device and
explosive material incidents. In addition, the Unit has K-9
detection capabilities. |

Patrol Unit
Provides uniformed police patrol, protective, and
enforcement services to all Rockland County holdings,
interests, property, thoroughfares and functions.
Divisions patrol unit remains prepared to support all police
agencies within Rockland County by immediate and
supplemental assistance in matters of emergency's and
concerns of mutual interests.
A security and transport group
has responsibility for all movement of correctional division
inmates and persons committed to the facility.
Members of the Police Division are part of Rockland's
(REACT) Regional Entry and Counter Terrorism Unit for
emergency response and intervention.
The Patrol
consists of one Chief, one Captain, 2 Lieutenants, 7
Sergeants, and 25 Patrol Officers. They are supported by 3
Civilian Law Enforcement Assistants, and 1 clerk typist. In
addition, a part-time staff of 43 sworn officers are
employed for additional manpower when necessary in the areas
of road patrol, mounted patrol, court security,
transportation and community service.
Patrol Unit Functions
The Patrol Unit
conducts uniform motor patrol functions on all County
property, roads, and thoroughfares. Providing enforcement
and service work to Rockland County’s employees and
citizens.
The Patrol also serves to
support and supplement, as requested, local town, village
and state enforcement efforts, as well as, assisting most
all criminal justice and Probation agencies, as needed.
The Patrol Unit is also the
lead Law Enforcement Agency in the Nuclear Disaster
Evacuation Plan for Rockland and adjacent counties.
IV-D
Support Collection
Support Collection conducts all warrant and investigation
work relative to the Department of Social Services’ Adult
Support collection function. This Unit boasts a 90%
clearance record for cases received.
Prisoner Transport Unit
The Prisoner Transport Unit performs all court remand
transport orders from local and county courts, as well as,
order to produce from Rockland County Correctional Facility
to County Judicial jurisdictions.
Patrol -
Health Center
The Sheriff's Police division maintains a sub-station unit
at Rockland County's Health and Hospitals Complex, Pomona,
N.Y..
The unit provides police
related services to all resident agencies with unformed
twenty-four hours patrols and investigative and emergency
services.
