C. Scott Vanderhoef
County Executive

Welcome

As our budget reflects, the government of Rockland County is a very large organization employing around 2,300 people, spending about $710,000,000 a year and serving tens of thousands of our residents on an annual basis. In the Departments of Budget and Finance we believe our role is to administer the financial operations of the County in a legal, accurate and ethical manner but at the same time to be as informative and transparent in our operations as this large organization permits.

Several years ago, we embarked on a project to improve our budget presentation and supporting information. We utilized standards established by the National Government Finance Officers Association. The document you are about to review is a reflection of those standards and we are happy to report that from 2005 through 2009 our budget presentation has earned the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for adhering to those standards.

We hope that your review of our 2012 Adopted Budget is informative and easily understandable. If after your review you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to call us at (845) 638-5262 for assistance.
