Rockland County IDA Recaptures Benefits
January 27, 2012 - The Rockland County Industrial Development Agency (IDA) has successfully recaptured 100 percent of the benefits received by Olympus Industrial America Inc., totaling more than $1.9 million.

Five New Members to be Inducted Into the Civil and Human Rights Hall of Fame
January 27, 2012 -
County Executive C. Scott Vanderhoef and Commissioner of Human Rights S. Ram Nagubandi announced that five new members will be inducted into the Civil and Human Rights Hall of Fame at noon on Thursday, February 2, 2012 at the 9th Annual Civil Rights Hall of Fame luncheon.

Rockland County Has One of Lowest Unemployment Rates in New York State
January 24, 2012 -
The New York State Department of Labor released local area unemployment rates for December, 2011. Rockland County was noted as having one of the lowest county employment rates in the state, at 6.5 percent.

Rockland County Office for the Aging receives Certificate of Recognition from NYS Division of Adult Protective Services
January 24, 2012 -
Rockland County Executive C. Scott Vanderhoef announced that the Rockland County Office for the Aging was awarded a Certificate of Recognition by the New York State Office of Children and Family Service’s Division of Adult Protective Services.

Greenway Approves Rockland County's Greenway Compact Strategy

The Hudson River Valley Greenway Communities Council approved Rockland County's Greenway Compact strategy at its board meeting in Hyde Park.

County Executive C. Scott Vanderhoef presented leaders from Rockland's businesses and not-for-profit organizations with a colorful overview of several centuries of Rockland County history and economic development.

County Youth Bureau Announces New Employment Training Program for Youth

The Rockland County Youth Bureau announces a new workforce preparation and placement program called T.E.E.N. (Teen Employment Education Network) Works. Eligible youth must submit applications by Feb. 15th.

County of Rockland Participates in Community Service Project to Benefit Homeless Children
January 9, 2012 -
Rockland County Executive C. Scott Vanderhoef and the Rockland County Youth Bureau’s AmeriCorps Program announce a community service project, Project Night Night that donates over 25,000 packages each year, free of charge, to homeless children in need of childhood essentials.

"New TZ Bridge Should Have Mass Transit Capability!”

October 28, 2011 - Rockland County Executive C. Scott Vanderhoef held a discussion with State Transportation Commissioner Joan McDonald, at which time he emphasized his view that a new Tappan Zee Bridge should “advance the construction of both transit and highway alternatives concurrently.”
